Kate Lough is lured to the far west of Cornwall by first class food, boutique hotels and a growing art and design scene.

Traditionally, this West Cornish town has been much overlooked in comparison to its glitzier neighbour St Ives. It doesn’t help that it feels very far away – it’s not much closer than Land’s End itself – but there are plenty of reasons why the journey is worth it. Boutique hotel openings, contemporary art galleries and tropical gardens, Michelin-quality restaurants and some of the best beaches around are just a few.
