BUOYANT COMMERCIAL MARKET WITHIN THE SOUTH HAMS

Gavin Sagar, Agency Surveyor reports strong interest and demand in the popular tourist destinations of Salcombe & Kingsbridge following several lettings over the last 12 months. A number of vacant retail and office premises have been occupied by new businesses in both Kingsbridge and Salcombe and demand is still high with active established businesses as well as sole traders seeking new premises.

Salcombe has always been an extremely popular tourist destination in the South Hams and many established fashionable retailers already occupy premises within the town. Equally we have seen a surge in the number of enquiries from smaller businesses looking for new premises.

Recent lettings in Kingsbridge include Salcombe Gin occupying office space at Higher Union Road, Newman’s Accountants have let an office in The Anchor Centre and new start business Taylored Games have taken the former Bet Fred premises on Prince of Wales Road.

Recent Salcombe lettings include Helly Hansen moving into a prime retail pitch on Fore Street within close proximity to Fat Face, Joules and Crew Clothing. Ocean Publishing occupy a central location further along Fore Street near Whitestrand Car Park having completed a letting earlier this year.

Current availability in Salcombe includes Sea Chest, freehold premises on Union Street, immediately opposite The Fortescue public house and next to the RNLI building. Sea Chest is a mixed-use scheme with a commercial facility on the ground floor and has outline planning permission granted to convert the upper floor into a three-bedroom apartment.

Current Kingsbridge availability includes a retail / office unit at Duke Street Court as well as a suite of offices in Duke Street Chambers. Duke Street Court is located in the centre of Kingsbridge and is a superb opportunity for any occupiers seeking either retail or office accommodation.

We would be delighted to hear from anyone looking to sell or let their commercial premises within the South Hams, equally should anyone be seeking premises please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
