Healthy demand for retail units in Exeter

Our Exeter office has recently been instructed by London and Cambridge Properties to handle the agency of both the St Thomas Shopping Centre and a parade of some 15 shops in Sidwell Street Exeter.

The St Thomas shopping complex is a well-established neighbourhood shopping centre situated in Cowick Street within a popular residential area about 1 mile from the city centre.

Occupiers include the Co-op, Lloyds and NatWest banks, Greggs, Dominos, McColls, Bath Travel and a number of local and independent traders.  The centre also highly benefits from its own free car park and has a regular bus service and its own railway station linking with the city centre and other destinations.

The last unit is now under offer and we are hoping for 100% occupancy by the Summer. The most recent lettings to Solstice recruitment further strengthens the offering of retail, offices and food occupiers in the Centre.

In Sidwell Street following on from the last letting to Papa Johns pizzas we now have the last 2 units under offer and are scheduled complete in May 2018.

These will complement the existing tenant mix of National and independent traders in the Parade including Subway, Cash Converters, Age UK, Children’s Hospice South West and The Ark pet centre.

Damian Cook of our Exeter office comments “Healthy demand remains for shop units in good secondary trading locations. We have an active mailing list of applicants of all types of businesses and a shortage of supply in Exeter.  This does seem to be contrary to the rather gloomy news we have heard of late in the National media.”
